Selsey Open Gardens are pleased to be raising funds this year for 3 very worthwhile Selsey based charities.
SELSEY CARE SHOP
The Selsey Care Shop is managed by the Selsey Community Forum, located on the High Street. It is open 7 days a week as a first point of contact for local people to access help, support and activities run by Selsey Community Forum. The Selsey Care Shop aims to help all ages, from children acting as carers to the very elderly. The support provided aims to help those of any age with some of life’s common problems.
Staff and volunteers in Selsey Care Shop provide support through advice and information
relating to well-being and referrals to appropriate organisations and/or to the ten community
services which they run. Some of these services include Carers Support, Befriending, Employment Support, Money Support groups and Good Morning Calls, each supported by a service lead and many dedicated volunteers. The Selsey Care Shop activities are promoted each month in the SCF Newsletter.

YOUTH DREAM SELSEY
Youth Dream formed in 2014 as a local charity and opened its hub ‘The Bridge Youth Support Centre’ in 2015. By focusing on promoting and supporting the wellbeing of the young people within our community, we can gain insight into the local barriers, including financial pressures, educational challenges, and mental health needs for those under 16 years old.
Over the years the charity has expanded over the wider manhood peninsula from Selsey to the Witterings and towards Chichester, which include weekly attendance in some local schools.
Youth Dream also provide weekly, term time youth clubs in both Selsey and the Witterings as well as providing school holiday activities weeks in both sites.

SELSEY COMMUNITY FIRST RESPONDERS
Since 2001 the Selsey Community First Responders (CFRs) have answered 999 calls and provided lifesaving emergency treatment within Selsey. Each CFR is equipped with a Defibrillator and Oxygen, as early defibrillation significantly increases the patients’ chances of survival. CFRs are trained to help with cardiac arrest and other medical emergencies such as trauma, stroke and diabetic problems. Sometimes during the busy summer months, it can be difficult for the Emergency Services to reach us quickly on the peninsula and so the role of the CFR becomes even more vital.
There is no government or NHS funding for your voluntary Responders so we must look to the businesses and residents of Selsey to help us.
